I want to share a lesson that completely changed the trajectory of our business because I think more founders need to hear it.
For the first seven months, building our consulting company was brutal. Nothing worked. Nothing stuck. We tried every strategy we could think of. Different offers, different messaging, different processes. Nobody was buying.
Then we had our breakthrough.
We realized something that completely changed how we approached the market.
Most business owners don't wake up thinking, "I need another CRM, another system, another SOP, another KPI, or another consultant."
What they really want is talent.
They want experienced people who can step into their business, solve problems, generate results, and become part of the team.
The moment we shifted from selling consulting to selling experienced executives and operators, everything changed.
Within a week, clients who had been sitting in our pipeline finally signed. When prospects asked for a consulting proposal, we stopped sending lengthy proposals.
Instead, we said:
"Here's our fee to bring this executive into your business. Keep them as long as you need. They'll work alongside your team to solve the problems you're trying to solve."
- We stopped selling services.
- We started selling people.
Looking back, I don't think we would have made that shift if I hadn't spent 30 years in recruitment and talent acquisition. That experience helped us recognize what the market was really asking for.
My takeaway is simple:
In 2026, companies aren't looking for another CRM, another system, another SOP, or another consultant. They're looking for people who can execute.
- Technology matters.
- Systems matter.
- Processes matter.
But none of them create results without the right talent behind them. Sell the talent, and everything else becomes much easier.
